In this project, we’ve made ethics a key part of our decision-making. When patients feel confident that their information is safe, they are more likely to share complete and honest details, which is essential for quality care. By sticking to ethical standards, our Clinical Documentation system (CDS) uses strong security to keep patient data safe from cyber risks, reducing potential harm. Ethics also support patients’ rights to access, manage, and update their health information, giving them more control and involvement in their care.
It was challenging to differentiate between AI and a computer program because the distinction is subtle, and it took some time to grasp this concept. We learned how to map AI knowledge to solutions and incorporate ethical considerations, which was a valuable new skill for us.
This project has been a deep dive into creating AI driven solutions that truly support healthcare workers without overshadowing their expertise. By designing features that prioritize clear, actionable insights, we aimed to help doctors make informed decisions faster while minimizing overwhelm. The process of balancing AI-driven insights with human judgment has highlighted the importance of ethical, user-centered design. Through this journey, we have gained valuable insights into how technology can empower rather than replace, always keeping patient care and the well-being of healthcare professionals at the forefront.
